I think you are right, another dealer mentioned it was for manual cars. Is there supposed to be a cover of some sort on it for Autos? Should I just remove the tape?I think it has something to do with shift lock. Any auto drivers want to chime in?
That is what I was thinking as well.I'm almost 100% sure that it is a Shit Lock Over Ride so even without the key in the ignition turned to "unlock" the transmission, you can push down on that and shift the transmission.
This is a great feature cause if your vehicle loses power, you may not be able to shift it, this can be a problem when you want to tow your vehicle and the tow truck operator needs to put the vehicle in Neutral to do so.
That is the shift lock override and it looks as if the tech that did your PDI (pre-delivery inspection) didn't replace the cover that's suppose to be their that rj8xj6 posted.
Everything I said may not be on point, but it's just the most realistic situation i can think of.Thank you to rj8xj6 and AcuraPWR for clearing that up guys!unk:
OP, let us know what the dealer offers as a remedy!
If you stick your key in there it unlocks 25 more extra horsepower.I'm almost 100% sure that it is a Shit Lock Over Ride so even without the key in the ignition turned to "unlock" the transmission, you can push down on that and shift the transmission.

LMAO!!!! What an epic fail. You can fix that, just pop the cover out and put it in back properly how it was suppose to be.My tech apparently put in the shift lock cover backwards somehow!! :smh:
