Everyone has their preferred brand of oil. So I wanted to find out what is your favorite brand or what brand would you use and possibly why you chose that brand?

ive always used mobil 1. whether its conventional or synthetic. i always stick to mobil 1. never had a problem with before so no reason why i should change.

I have been using Castrol ever since I started doing my own oil changes. Never read a bad review about them and its worked really well for me so far. I try and get the German made Castrol as its a much better grade than the North American made Castrol.

I used to use Royal Purple but I heard bad things about them plus it caused a knock in my engine. Now I use Castrol too.

I always use synthetic, sometimes Walmart generic, sometimes Pennzoil Platinum. I've never had a problem based on oil choice.

Sticking to OEM Honda oil for the time being, I have a buddy that works at Acura and I might as well stick to that oil if i can get it for cheap!

We run Motul 300V in our Dinan S62 Z3 M Coupe and regular Mobil 1 full synthetic in our DP with the same motor. No real difference to note. Both are great oils however Motul 300V's cost difference would not be worth it on a DD.


All that really matters is that you stick with a quality oil of the same brand and type throughout the life of your engine. There is reason to believe that competing brands additives actually have a canceling effect on each other which leads to a higher chance of wear early after an oil change. Nothing is conclusive on this however and more research is needed.

I just hit 5K before TG and got the oil changed [email protected] Acura Columbus Acura Columbus | Acura Dealer | Columbus, Ohio in and out in 25min and included car wash and vaccum for $24.95 They use Honda motor oil

The general consensus is just run a quality oil (many brands) don't bother on comparing between the best oils. Just get what is accessible and change your oil often. I run on a 3000 mile drain interval personally.

I was checking out Castrol Edge and apparently it's suppose to last way longer than Syntec or the regular castrol stuff. Have you actually used castrol edge?

Coming up on 10K ,probably by March ;we'll be doing a tranny fluid replacement too.
Every 5k on the engine and every 10K on the tranny; for me it's cheap insurance

BTW I forgot to ask this, but does anyone use any oil additives when putting in fresh oil?
