Thread of the Day: 2013 Buick Verano Turbo or 2013 Acura ILX 2.4 – With Poll

Saw this on motor trend, posting it here to see how the poll does here compared to MT's poll.
Check out the article and vote on the poll above.

I wouldnt expect the polls here woukld be exactly fair because it would be kinda biased since its an acura thread. But the Buick Verano does have a more power than the Acura Ilx. I kinda wished that the ILX would be turbo too. But still for everything i would vote for the ILX.

I don't know...I just don't think these 2 cars are really that comparable. Anyone who has owned an Acura knows what makes an Acura so special. Now, that's not to say that Buick hasn't done a good job with the Verano, but I just wouldn't be caught dead driving a 3400 pound car based on the Cruze that costs the same or more money as the ILX. I don't care about navigation. I won't be wooed by a fancy interior. I know what an Acura is at the core because they've always been that way. Buick has to change constantly because GM can't find its "mojo". Um....and it's an Acura! The 2.4L is like
300-400 pounds lighter, so that's why the 2.0 turbo can't keep up with it. Who cares about the HP number - it's how it feels from behind the wheel. PS - I've always noticed that Motortrend seems biased towards American cars. Ever since I was a tween reading MT, I've felt that way. Still the same today.

Well said. I like that your unbiased but did take the time to explain why you like/want one over the other.

I think Buick did an awesome job with the Verano, it's not perfect, but being their very first compact luxury sedan, it's a start.

Acura has been in the compact luxury car game for a while, ever since 1996! (Acura 1.6EL) and they have perfected it and made it far better every step of the way (although the early years of the 1.7 weren't too impressive). Like what you said it's an Acura, we all know what to expect, it's not like were "gambling". In the end for me it's Acura!
