The ILX could use a ton of improvements with technology Acura already has and are developing at the moment to make it that much better and attract a whole new type of customer to the brand. A customer that might be looking for a "poor mans BMW 3 series".

Some things we can discuss about it are....

Should they build it and why?
What could an ILX fitted with precision all-wheel steer and/or SH-AWD/Sport Hybrid SH-AWD cost us?
What might they call this performance model ILX?

etc..

If they decide to build a performance type s model it could work. SH-AWD 2.4L ILX? Why not? Sport tuned suspension. LSD equipped 6 speed. Could be alot of fun.

The problem with adding SH AWD to the linup is the cost. When you add to the cost you bring hte ILX to the TSX regime and people could just opt for the roomier more powerful TSX instead. If Acura is going to add AWD for the ILX people would question the TSX. They would have to add SH AWD to all their models.

All wheel steering would work very well. But SH-AWD will drive cost up by a good $5000 I bet, if not, more. BUT I know car makers do create really cool cars that don't make them a profit but instead makes them look better. Thinking about if this SH-AWD ILX was built and Acura wasn't making money off of it or taking a hit, sales from regular ILX models would make up for it.

I would love to have an SH-AWD compact 4 door.

A good friend wanted an ILX but no AWD option;he is a long time Acura owner,he sold his MDX with 200K on the odo and used the cash to buy a new Subaru Legacy sedan.

Point is if it's not on the option sheet and it is a must have for a shopper they move on. With all the time and effort that was spent on the ZDX had this money been diverted to a ILX SH-AWD option ,Acura would have kept that customer in the "family"

Shame they'll never know

Myself.......if it had been offered I would have gone for a SH-AWD option
