Has anybody painted their calipers? If so, what color and what color is your car?

Powerstop is coming out with red replacement calipers for the ILX ; I know this doesn't answer the question but here's where many of my friends have purchased caliper paint kits.........

Duplicolor Brake Caliper Paint Kits - JEGS
I think duplicolor makes a kit as well as G2.

I have found that they chip over time though. I'd want to just paint it silver.

^ I would paint it silver like when it comes from factory. How can we put on better protection against rock chips and rust?

Quoted for awesome
Sounds like most of you guys feel the stock silver is better than any other color.
I'd kinda like to see what other colors look like before painting mine.
Anybody have any pictures?
I like the idea of red! If it was a Ferrari or Lamborghini I could do yellow :0

Just look up any car with painted calipers. It wont look any different on an ilx.

Or

Im not sure why acura-dude like the oem color but I just dont care to fake the funk and paint stock calipers. Kind of ricey IMO but hey, this coming from a guy that sprayed his old muffler/emblems black and tore out a rear seat in my old integra before I said "whoa, THATS rice." No offense meant, just my honest opinion. If you like colored calipers go buy a big break kit.

Also the unneeded attention is a factor. Sprayed red calipers are 'red' flags for cops to pull you over and see what they can pin on you.

Some random info.
The TLs use Brembo kits. It would be pretty sick to do a retro fit TL brake set up on an ILX.
Thanx for the info and pix. I'm thinking of Plasti-dipping the wheels black (mask off the polished
aluminum) and red calipers (car's red). If I don't like it I can peel it off. I'll just have to
take my chances with the cops. I do anyway.

I would paint my caliper like this....

But only in red, with Acura lettering which will look amazing and OEM. It should look good enough that you'll have people asking you if you have some performance trim Acura ILX LOL.

Also Caliper covers are an easier way to go about it, but it will obviously cost more..

Red wont look oem cause they dont make oem red brakes on acuras. I like the idea of the acura logo but id go the same color as the lexus. Red is just too flashy for me.

Yeah red just stands out too much, black or even a silver/grey will look really nice and even more OEM-looking than red would.
At least with black you don't have to worry about it getting dirty too often since dirt isn't as noticeable on it as compared to red or silver.

That wouldn't be a bad idea actually to do a retrofit of the brembo brake calipers from a TL since the ILX doesn;t come with any performance package. we have to do something ourselves. And not to mention it will be cheaper but if any body does since you hav it out you might as well get the calipers rebuilt and have a fresh set in the ILX.

Could be done, I looked at all the parts and compared.. looks like you could have everything you'd need for $1200.. that saves a pretty solid amount over a set of Stoptech or Brembo
OEM is always the way to go if possible in my opinion.
I never actually saw what the tl brembos looked like but now that i have id say theyd look damn good on an ilx.
I say go with some extended studs with red lugs and keep the brakes a stock color and itll look aggressive without being too over the top.
OEM Acura TL brembo calipers

Black w/ white lettering.
those Calipers look solid, It would be nice if brembo kept their name on it instead of rebranding them to the manufacturer of the vehicle. Not orange but maybe just another color. Is that how they came or did you polish and repaint them because they look mint.

Brembo would be cool for the status that comes with having brembo brakes, but i rather have the manufactures name on it in this case, if it was some higher performance brake setup then I wouldn't mind at all with having brembo on it.

But I think a lot of TL owners would rather have Brembo :p
Thats an awesome idea, how much do 2nd hand calipers from a TL run these days? And how many pots is the TL calipers 4 or 6?
