Not wanting to get "off topic" but... When did you do your FIRST oil change? I've heard Honda usesI have had mine since 10/31(?)/2012 and just rolled over 11K miles. :donatello:
No issues to date, and only 2 oil changes in!
Trust the Honda engineers, leave it in as long as possible. Not wanting to get "off topic" but... When did you do your FIRST oil change? I've heard Honda uses
a "break in" oil and you shouldn't R & R it prematurely. As a small engine mechanic for more than
2 decades, I've always thought the first oil change was critical to remove the microscopic metal
shards that occur during break in. What's your opinion ?
Yeah, me too. Aside from the advances in oil and engine technology, I think Honda makes one of the best oil filters in the industry. Recommended oil change on my '04 Accord was 10KTrust the Honda engineers, leave it in as long as possible.
I waited til the iMid said 15% which was around 5k miles. Changes in engine technology and oil.. The engines are built with break-in in mind. Like I said though I trust the guys who built the motor.
You must really baby your car!Had mine for 6 months I'm at 8800 with 10% on the Oil Life.
How accurate is that oil percentage reading? I think mine has only moved 10% in 1k. maybe it just hit 80%. are you guys following that, or just doing a change every 3-4kHad mine for 6 months I'm at 8800 with 10% on the Oil Life.
The vast majority of my miles have come from highway commuting, I'm guessing that plays a role. You must really baby your car!
if you're using OEM spec oil then follow your I-MID or 7k miles. The I-MID bases its % on your driving habits and other factorsHow accurate is that oil percentage reading? I think mine has only moved 10% in 1k. maybe it just hit 80%. are you guys following that, or just doing a change every 3-4k
very cool. I've never had a car show me this info. Thanks for the comment.if you're using OEM spec oil then follow your I-MID or 7k miles. The I-MID bases its % on your driving habits and other factors
Does the manual say 7000?if you're using OEM spec oil then follow your I-MID or 7k miles. The I-MID bases its % on your driving habits and other factors
The iMid doesn't go based on mileage. It goes based on driving conditions and other factors like how hard you're revving the motor.I change my oil every 5k lol. The iMid isn't really accurate IMO; it told me to change it at 6735, then 11,5xx. So I do mine a little early and keep my receipts in a folder for the next owner.
Also I'm using mobile1 full synthetic 0-20w. Grey bottle green wrapper.
7k or sooner based on the MID calculation of your driving habits.Does the manual say 7000?
Yours was the one with the dent above the door, wasn't it? Did you ever get it repaired, how muchBought mine November 2012, have 10,500 on it. No issues (Except it being a dent magnet), 3 Oil Changes and 1 rotation done per maintenance.
No not yet. I got a quote from a dent only place that said they would do it for $175.00. I haven't really cared or had enough time to do it yet. It's pretty ugly and noticeable though lol. I think I've had more crap happen to this car in 6 Months then ever before with my other cars.Yours was the one with the dent above the door, wasn't it? Did you ever get it repaired, how much
did it cost, and were you satisfied with the work?
Seeing your dent was more painful than a kidney stone. Gotta admit tho, your comment about yourNo not yet. I got a quote from a dent only place that said they would do it for $175.00.
