Most people have probably heard about Hyundai getting caught recently exaggerating its EPA mileage estimates and many/most manufacturers may take some liberties with those figures, too, since they are not based on an uniform, real-world driving test. Car magazine reviews are not reliable measures of a car's true mileage, either, as the writers tend to be jaded speed freaks who gun the engines like teenage boys most of the time instead of driving normally, trying to replicate their thrills when they get to test a 911 or M3. So, that leaves an owner consensus from a forum like this one as perhaps one of the better and more reliable sources for finding out how fuel efficient a car actually is.

What kind of mileage are you getting from your 2.0l ILX? For me, the best test of the maximum mileage I can expect would be a highway trip of at least a few hours where I can set the cruise at 65 or 70mph and not have to run the AC or heat. About 80+% of my driving is on the highway, so I'm most concerned about highway mileage. Are you getting the EPA estimate of 35mpg on the highway? What's the best mileage you've obtained on a highway trip? How about purely for around-town driving?

Thanks.

This doesn't answer your question but our 2.4L 6MT pulled down 32+mpg on a trip at Thanksgiving.I would think a 2.0L would be able to achieve at least that .

Most people report their ILXs to be overperforming. My 2.4L (which doesn't speak for the 2.0) is generally getting 27-29 with a 50/50 drive.. the one trip I made pure highway I got 32 there and back. It has a few hilly areas and only 1 part where you slow down and speed back up. I haven't done all city driving on a tank but I have done about 70% on one tank.. it still got about 25.5mpg though.

I know this doesn't exactly help with the 2.0L but I'd say they scale about the same.

I'd like to note I like to row a few gears every once and a while and haven't noticed any huge MPG loss from it.

Yea I guess we can sort of base the 2.0 off of the 2.4 seeing how with Honda's the technology from engine to engine isn't significantly different.

^^^So Cal driver here. Part of the reason I went with the auto instead of the manual. Ya know, people just dont understand real city driving until they come to Cali.

I got the ILX at 26miles. Im now at 1991miles and my average at only city driving is 23.6
I do hit the freeway but only to get across my valley, never more than 15-20 minutes and its only been a hand full of times.

I have ~7000 miles on my car now, I'm like 22 city but I feel like I tend to mash the gas a lot.

having good driving habits really help to get better gas mileage, how high are you revving when driving in the city and highway?

with my old V8, all i needed was 2k for city and 3k for highway. with the ilx, i think all you need is 3k for city and 3-4k for highway at most.

If your really concerned about the fuel econmony on the ILX just grandma it around at 2.5k without any power but for me I just run it at 3.5k just to be safe incase I need to move out of the way to avoid getting in to an accident.

Im in NYC and never have to go on a highway for more than 10 mins at a clip either. I'm seeing 25ish mpg. I haven't taken my car over 2700 rpms yet and shit really low (i have the 2.4 6spd). I had an 09 TSX with the same 2.4l and 6spd and it was beautiful and over performed epa estimates. I would expect everyone to see higher mpg values than the window sticker.

I dropped to 23.4 without noticing. Still higher than my buddies 2012 Subaru Legacy. We work at the same place and live relatively close, both taking freeway time and city time to work everyday. He is averaging 22.X in a Subaru Legacy. So im happy with 23.x lol
Im sure i could reach 25.x without my heavy foot.

About 9k miles in on mine, my average bounces between 27.4-27.5. I drive about 80% Highway on mine but alot of congestion and traffic in the Dallas area. I spend alot of time in sport mode as well with some spirited driving. If I could keep the cruise on and my foot off for a couple months I could prob get it 30.0

Anyone notice that the gas light goes on a bit too early?
The manual says it goes on at once you've used up 11.3 gallons
did another calculation today and it actually turned on roughly at 10.5
Not sure if it's just my car. Any opinions?
