Ilx on coils...what are you riding?

Purchasing coilovers soon for my ILX and I am trying to get feedback from anyone who has tried any of the options that are available for the ILX. I am not a fan of Tein's offerings as they only allow minimal drop in height. I am between the D2 RS coils and the Megan street series Coilovers. I'm not planning to sling my ILX around a track, so spare me the banter that these aren't high quality coilovers, I'm not building a race car. Just want a nice drop (This car has plenty of room to go down) with a decent street ride and improved handling because the ILX needs it bad. Planning to pair the drop with either the Megan rear camber kit or the Skunk2 camber kit. Any input from anyone who has actually dropped their ILX would be greatly appreciated. Planning to do this mod at the same time as the RV6 downpipe, intake, and flashpro. Should be a horribly fun car once this is done.

Only one person so far has done coilovers. They went megan and frankly wont respond to my questions.

I could be wrong but arent the megans and d2 vastly different in price range?
Im looking forward to the first ILX on bags!

Seeing how the ILX is the perfect candidate to be VIP-styled i know someone into that will install a baller air bag setup :D
I think Megan and D2 are both around the $1k price range if I'm not mistaken.

Megan should be around $700.
Unless they've released as second version, which they always do.
Then they'll be around $700 and $1000 respectfully.
does anybody on here have the Megan coilovers installed on their ILX? Hows the ride?

These forums move slower than azine.ilx does and no one over there has anything but springs. One person sending their car in soon I believe to test fit some coils but they frequent azine for than ilxforum.

So far only person on coils are megan ez street. I didnt get a response about quality or how low they went from the dude that installed them but Ive asked the owner so hopefully she responds soon. Stolen from her instagram:

As soon as I sell the parts from the old car...!!

Coilovers coming soon!
if your going with cheaper coil overs to dump your ILX I highly recommend getting some coil silencers or else your going to pull your hair out from listening to the constant coil bind and knocking thats going on from anything ranging from a speed bump to a small pebble...

What cars did you previously own?
My last car was lower than I intend to take my ilx for a very long time and there was never any hair pulling out.
In fact ive following two threads specifically on slammed hondas/acuras and not once have I heard a complaint about noisy coil bind.

I guess itd be a good product if id ever heard my coilovers make noise from inside the car. But in the 3 years my car was border lined dumped, never once did the coils make a sound.
dam and a girl owns that ILX too? That thing is slammed. I've never had problems with cheaper coilovers bind.

I've had Megan, BC Racing, Tein.

It's pretty low but for 17in wheels id say its no lower than my integra and I never considered that slammed.

Looks great though.

I've never had any issues on my coils making noise.. It's a 2004 accord coupe 6 speed.

Looks great. I never had any experience with megan products but I always hear of people resorting to Megan for coilovers when on a budget. Just wanted to get some feedback on how they really perform.
Ilx6speed I was talking to lilly.
look pretty slammed to me. almost can't see the top half of the tires. maybe my standards for slammed are just not as crazy as others.

for me it goes lowered - flush - tucked - slammed - retarded

Your terminology is off. Kind of like comparing wet and soaked with frozen.
Lowered and slammed would be a comparison.
Lowered < slammed/dumped(whatever slang you prefer)
Flush and tucked explain something different and also involve poke.
Tucked < flush < poke
As for retarded I assume you mean when they rock a lot of camber. If they are just trying to make their wheels fit then its likely poke unless theyre just doing it wrong.
If they are trying to go for as much neg camber as possible then they are into Oni Camber which is trying to make the wheels as horizontal as possible. Its a bosuzoku thing.

its not about how low you go its about the quality of the product you used to lower... If you used shitty coils you get coil bind...

as for running neg camber, someone explain to me why boy racers need to have so much neg camber in a street ride, especially on the rear wheels of these FWD cars. LOL neg camber gets pulled back straight by high powered acceleration, do you think 110 hp FWD tin can rockets have enough power to pull the rear wheels straight? No chance, simply a poser look and an excuse to wear your tires unevenly...

IS this what the whole ILX community is like? Luxury Civics?

I've just never heard of anyone complain about coil bind noise and I have been apart of a honda tuning community for the last 5 years. Not once.
My first set of coils were no name elames on stock shocks. The lowest of the low when it came to quality. No noises until my shocks blew at least. Second set up were function forms, and while being a great set up, they run the same as Megans and some argue the quality is pretty much the same. Just some company copying other companies designs with decent quality parts.

Eeer? First I think you are a bit confuse because you go from saying boy racers to luxurious civic. Luxury and boy racer are opposites.
Second, boy racers DONT want negative camber. Boy racers build becauseracecars and negative camber isn't claimed to be as functional as near 0 degrees.
I assume you ask about the why putting negative camber in the rear on a FWD to be dumb. It implies that you assume negative camber helps with anything in the rear for a RWD car. That is incorrect. You want the powered wheels to be as flat as possible. A FWD car is better suited for rear wheel camber because those just hold the car up. A RWD car with cambered rear wheels would have less traction where they need it most.

I dont think anyone with negative camber on their honda/acura thinks their car is fast enough to pull that negative camber to zero. No one even thinks about that. You are trying REALLY hard to challenge someone. Literally no one thinks negative camber makes their car faster. It's not a poser look? Why are you being so damn judgmental? Let people do whatever they hell they want to do. There is no such thing as being a poser. You aren't anything until you try and claim to be. Everyone has to take a first step unless you believe we are born into some stereotype we cant dig ourselves out of. But the fact remains negative camber isn't posing as anything. It's just negative camber for crying out loud.
And with the proper toe you wont see very bad tire wear. Not around -3 anyways. Further and yes you see more wear, but it really isn't as bad as people make it out to be IF YOUR TOE SETTING ARE CORRECT.

IS this what the whole ILX community is like? Luxury Civics?
WHY SO JUDGEMENTAL? Why do you care what others are doing?

And why does everyone think everyone is going luxurious. All I have seen are 3 pairs of racing wheels. Blacked out chrome, wheels, tint, some intakes here and there. So far its been pretty damn becauseracecar across the entire board. I have been the only one to my knowledge to proclaim to be a Luxury/VIPstyle build where as others are talking about turbos, superchargers, and track days.

Megan products are okay if you want something entry-level, just never get serious and spend over $1000 on stuff from them, go to Tein.
