The sheet metal & the interior quality were enough to justify it for me.
One big reason why I would get the ILX over a 2013 Civic Si is the dashboard on the Civic. I always disliked the double stack dash or whatever they call it. It might be driver focused but it's just not doing it for me.The ILX was an upgrade from my 2006 Civic. I was considering the SI for a time, but in the end got the ILX because I was looking for something more luxurious. I think they are both great choices. I agree with cfrp that the SI is more performance oriented than the ILX.
Though it looks like Honda has made more strives of making the 2013 Civic more luxurious than before. The interior looks much nicer and the rear looks more premium and mature. This is judging from video reviews I have seen online.
I actually like the dash on the SI, but only in the SI. I think the tilt to the driver side gives it a cockpit feel, which makes sense for a performance vehicle but not so much on the ILX.One big reason why I would get the ILX over a 2013 Civic Si is the dashboard on the Civic. Good point. The Si being a performance focused trim Civic does need more performance focused things going on like the driver focused center console. But many generations of the Si haven't been like this and people were totally fine with it, they had your traditional center console setup.I actually like the dash on the SI, but only in the SI. There is no GPS with the 2.4 model? That's a very odd omission. Is there no technology package option?I cannot understand why the GPS is not available for the ILX 2.4
Don't know, this is just a guess... Maybe Honda figured you wouldn't be able to safely play with GPS buttons and stirring the gearbox at the same time? Don't get me wrong, I would have boughtI cannot understand why the GPS is not available for the ILX 2.4
Acura TL has navigation and 6 speed.Don't know, this is just a guess... Maybe Honda figured you wouldn't be able to safely play with GPS buttons and stirring the gearbox at the same time? Don't get me wrong, I would have bought
the tech pack if it was available.
Now If Acura could just have a ILX type s model, offering more performance they could have a chance to come back. Although its a little late but if Acura were to just take the new Honda Civic Si engine and put that in the ILX with an LSd tranny, In my opinion that might capture just a big enough crowd. What do you guys think about that?I think some have considered the Si and ILX.
The ILX is just a more premium car. Go sit in one in a dealership and compare the interior to the Si.
If you don't care for the interior, exterior, projector headlights, acura badge, get the Si
The Si is more performance oriented. The ILX is more comfort oriented.
It still wont capture a huge crowd. The 6-speed ILX IS the Civic Si motor/Tranny without the LSD. The LSD wont make a difference to the average buyer.. They'd have to do a whole appearance package, suspension, and something to really make it quick in the corners and straights.. maybe a S/C, better head or Turbo. Now If Acura could just have a ILX type s model, offering more performance they could have a chance to come back.
