Other than the Verano I can't think of anything that can be directly compared to the ILX, the closest would be the Lexus IS250 and Audi A3. Even those two are an upgrade from the ILX seeing they include much more luxurious features. Acura is at the bottom of the luxury vehicle market.

You also forgot about Chrysler and their luxury cars as well,

Acura and Lexus are kinda like the low end tier of the Japanese Luxury market but are still great sellers, since most of their cars are based of their more economic counter part.

I totally forgot about the Chrysler 200, it's very comparable to the ILX and Verano. Only think is Anyone looking to get an ILX probably won't think of or consider getting a Chrysler.

Chrysler 200 vs Acura ILX which is/will be the better car? 200 seems to be very popular, I see them everywhere....Verano not so much.

Verano just came out dude, but who know some people are not brand whores they just buy the car, based on price for what you pay and what you get! lowest prices for most stuff wins!
Yep, the verano just came out a year ago

from another forum...
Re: 2012 Buick Verano on Buick's site!

Nice find.

Note the release date: Jan. 6, 2011, 12:01 a.m. ET
Buick is just GM's failed attempt at affordable luxury vehicles. Verano is based off of the Cruze which had a lot of problems when it came out, i would stay far away from anything GM until the bugs are worked out. Too bad your typical car buyer wont know that. The ILX might have it's issues but I doubt they will be anything like what GM has.

I love my Acura's, but this is the first time, in a long time, that I've seen someone call Lexus "low tier", and the only other Japanese brand is Infiniti. In reality, Lexus is the only brand even trying to compete with the Germans.

These two cars are not comparable. The ILX is a compact. The 200 is a midsize, and its smaller engine is a 2.4l.

I seen them in person and they seem to be pretty small, about the size of a ILX (maybe we can pull up some dimensions on both models?). Never knew it was a mid-size.

Oh I wouldn't call Buick anyone's failed attempt. They're the longest surviving entry-luxury automaker at 109 years old, the fastest growing brand in the US, and the #1 selling luxury brand in China. If you look that up anywhere, you'll fine it. And right now the Verano is selling faster than the ILX, and is, in each and every ranking, ranked far above this Civic in a suit. You can find that anywhere, too. Wards. US News and World Reports...anywhere.

200, A3, Focus Platinum, Jetta GLI, the IS-250 is a competitor, the TSX, Mercedes CLA... there are more but I forget.
I always thought about the mercedes CLA being a competitor but i dont think there will be many people that are already looking to buy an ILX that'll give the CLA a look. The benz might be nicer and a bit close in price but with a Benz comes expensive parts and service.

the expensive maintenance cost will be the only draw back but this is where consumers will forget once they see the Mercedes CLA. Merceedes made a slick move by releasing this line in their fleet. Now you can see where acura is struggling.

That doesn't mean the CLA won't take potential customers away. You have to realize the ILX 6 speed starting price is the same as the CLA 250 starting price. Even though packages on the CLA will cost more and maintenance will cost more.. The starting price is the same.. And if you compare the two cars it really makes the CLA look like a great deal.
