FWIW i double-checked the gas cap and it did turn about 1/8-1/4 turn before clicking, so that probably caused the issue. The light still isn't off though, assuming the cap was the problem will it go off on its own or does it have to be reset?

I take it you're worried the cel went off for another reason other than the gas door.
You shouldnt have any issues just resetting the cel. After all, if there IS a real issue the warning would be red, not yellow. And the cel will just come back on if there is an issue. You should be fine, I'd just reset it.

    Get it checked dude...

Let us know what it is.

Don't just wait for it to come off. Go and see what is it.

It wont just come off. It'll stay on until it's reset by the owner or mechanic.
If you can take it into Acura for free do so. If not turn it off yourself and if it comes on again then get it checked out.

If there was a big issue there would be a red indicator on your dash so you should be fine driving around for now.

I've had engine lights come off before. If the probem goes away sometimes the light will just turn off I find.

This is what I always was aware of. What good would it be if it just turns off after a while.
Getting the light checked out by the dealership is definitely something that should be done. Better safe than sorry.

Well the light seems to have gone off on its own after a few hours of driving.. so I guess a reset isn't necessary after all. Thanks for the help!

Well if there was an issue with a sensor it could have just sent the cel off due to temp or dirt then reset when the sensor did its next check.

Assuming the light was in response to your gas door it would have turned off once the car came back on. But since it turned itself off after a few days im sure it was just a temperature flux or some dirt on a sensor.
