Oil Changes: Follow MID or every 5000?

What are people doing as far as their oil changes go? I just got to 50% at ~4800 miles. Check Your Number says 7500 for the ILX.

    Also, what about tire rotations?

You're doing the right thing. I usually suggest that people do a first oil change 1/2 way through to the first service interval just to get rid of any metal shavings. No harm in doing more oil changes than needed to so why not?
Plus the first oil changes are the most important!

Are you doing the oil change yourself or going to the dealership?

I will be going to the dealership to get it done. Guess I'll just wait for the MID to say service is necessary.

    Thanks.

My first oil change I did at 4800, because the owners manual says to leave the break-in oil in as long as possible.. I am going to be doing it by the book so every 7,500 (ish) I'll do it anywhere from 68-7600 to avoid going over. The iMID seems pretty spot on with it but I'd keep an eye on it as well..

Every 5000 miles is my personal maximum. I don't actually change the oil filter everytime though.

Sometimes I change my oil at 3000 miles and I only change the oil. I just change the filter the next time around. Depends how dirty the oil is really.
